The Dymock Family of Scotland

The Dymock family emigrated from Glasgow, Scotland on the ship Eliza, on 29th April 1845 and their first port of call was Port Phillip (Melbourne) on 16th September 1845. The “Eliza” then left for Port Jackson (Sydney) on 13th October 1845 and arrived on 21stOctober 1845. On the ship was Margaret Lindsay Dymock (nee Waugh) and her four children, William (1832 – 1911), John Waugh (1834 – 1911), Helen MacLean (1837 – 1880) and David Lindsay (1839 – 1937). Sadly a daughter Jane had died in England, 18 days after she was born on 3rd May 1836.

Some years before they emigrated, Margaret’s husband John Dymock W.S. had died in Scotland on 17th February 1841 of a disease of the heart.

John Dymock W.S. had a rather rare occupation as a “Writer of the Signet”. [3]
